This profile should provide basic background information on your individual and provide an overview of his/her stance on our main questions: where is the U.S. headed from here? what are the primary issues/concerns facing our nation? how would deal with these issues and concerns?
Questions to consider as you research:
What was the "counterculture" and what factors contributed to its development in the mid to late 1960s?
How would you describe this counterculture? Who was attracted to it?
What vision of the future did the counterculture articulate/debate? How did they view the government? people in authority in general?
How does Leary fit into this counterculture?
What happened to the counterculture between 1967 (the summer of love) and 1968? Pay attention to what the Summer of Love DVD has to say about this. You can also check out the web site.
